Discipleship: At ARPC we take Jesus' charge to make disciples seriously. Next to worship, discipleship is our highest priority. Being a faithful follower of Jesus Christ is our high calling and a tremendous challenge. Jesus calls us to live holy, righteous, counter-cultural lives. The only way we can meet this challenge is through grace – through the gift of the Holy Spirit; and yet, we bring our best efforts. (Please read the Biblical basis in Matthew 5-7, 4:19-20, 10:37-39, 19:26, 28:19, John 15:5, and Acts 2.)
The Basic Building Blocks of Discipleship:
Fellowship: In Christian fellowship we love one another and encourage one another to follow Christ. This is a basic component of discipleship. Christians were made for community, and we need the support and love of one another. That is why we emphasize small groups at ARPC. (Please read the Biblical basis in John 13:34-35, Philippians 2:1-4, Matthew 18:20, and Hebrews 10:24-25.) Learn more about ways in which we fellowship at ARPC on the Fellowship page on the website.
Bible Study: The other basic component is Bible study. We study the Bible diligently in all our discipleship programs. The Bible is the word of God to us today, and it is the key for forming a relationship with God and learning to obey God in all that we do. (See Psalm 1:2 and 2 Timothy 3:16-17.)
